Piano disposal
By the crews that move concert pianos for a living. From £199, everything included.
A piano is the hardest single object in a normal house to get rid of. It weighs as much as four washing machines, it is worth less than people hope, and it will hurt someone if it is moved badly. Our vans and crews move pianos professionally every day for the country’s biggest piano retailers, so this is the one item where we are genuinely the specialists.
Pianos with life left in them are assessed for rehoming first. The rest are dismantled properly, the cast iron frame alone is often 100kg of recyclable metal, the timber is chipped, and the keys and action are recovered where they have value. If you would rather book direct with our piano side, the same crews run pianorecycling.co.uk.

Piano disposal questions
Why does piano disposal cost more than a sofa?
Weight and skill. An upright piano weighs 200 to 300kg and needs a trained two person crew with a piano shoe and ramps. £199 includes all of that plus proper dismantling and recycling.
Could my piano be worth something instead?
Occasionally yes, and we say so when we see it. Most uprights over 80 years old have sentimental rather than resale value, but if yours is a known maker in good order we will tell you before it goes anywhere.
Can you take a piano from upstairs?
Yes. Stairs are quoted per flight because a piano on stairs is a specialist lift, tell us the floor when booking and we confirm the price before the day.
