Booking and days
How do I know my collection day?
Type your postcode into the checker on any page. Every postcode area in England, Wales and mainland Scotland has one fixed WasteSpeed day a week, it never changes, and the booking form only offers real route dates.
How soon can you collect?
Usually this week or next: we need two days notice and your area's day comes round weekly. If your day was yesterday, the booking form simply shows next week's date.
Do I need to be home?
Not if the items are accessible, side gate unlocked, garage code in the access notes, or a neighbour with a key. For indoor collections someone over 18 needs to let the crew in. Photos are sent either way.
Can I change or cancel a booking?
Yes, reply to your confirmation email any time up to the evening before. There is no cancellation fee, we would rather know than send a van to a surprise.
What time will the crew arrive?
Route days run roughly 7am to 6pm and we confirm an arrival window the day before by email. If you told us a preferred time when booking we slot you accordingly where the route allows.
Prices and payment
Are the website prices really final?
Yes, with two transparent exceptions shown before you book: £20 per flight of stairs where there is no lift, and an agreed hygiene surcharge for heavily soiled items. Crew, loading, transport, disposal fees and VAT are all in the listed price.
How do I pay?
On the day, once everything is loaded: card, cash or bank transfer to the crew. No deposit, no online payment, no invoice chase.
Is it cheaper than a skip?
For anything up to about a half van load, almost always. A 6 yard skip runs £250 to £350 plus a road permit, and you load it yourself. Our full Luton van, loaded by us, is £289 all-in.
What we take
What can you not take?
Asbestos, tyres, liquid paint and chemicals, gas bottles, and plasterboard in quantity. Each has a proper specialist route and we will point you to it. Everything else two people can carry, we take.
Do you take fridges?
Yes, £69 including the legally required degassing at a licensed WEEE facility. Empty and defrost it first if you can.
Do you take garden waste and soil?
Green waste yes, by the load, it goes to composting. Soil and rubble in manageable amounts, priced by the load because of weight. For more than a half load of pure hardcore, email photos first for a fixed price.
Can you clear a whole house?
Yes, room by room and with care, it is one of our main services. Loads are priced £119 to £289 and bigger clearances get a fixed quote from photos the same day. We flag anything valuable we find.
The green part
How much actually gets recycled?
Our target is over 90 percent of every load diverted from landfill, through reuse, metal, timber, WEEE and green waste streams, then energy recovery for the rest. The full breakdown, including the honest limits, is on the recycling promise page.
Is a collection service really greener than a tip run?
Usually, for two reasons. Our van is in your area anyway, so the collection adds a fraction of the miles your return trip would. And a sorted commercial load typically achieves higher recovery than a mixed boot load tipped into a general skip.
Do you issue waste transfer notes?
For every commercial collection, automatically. Householders get photo confirmation as standard and can request paperwork if they like keeping records, we rather admire that.
